I'm looking for a good gynecologist. I have endometriosis, and would really love to find a caring woman who is willing to sit down and discuss my options with me. The pain is getting to a point where I can't ignore it anymore, and I have a ton of questions about the different ways of dealing with this problem.
I'd love to get some of you ladies opinions on your ob/gyns, or ones that you know of and have heard are great.

Re: Gyno?
Sat, April 5, 2008 - 9:56 PMI'm obviously now a woman, but I've had several lady friends tell me how happy they were with the North County Clinic on 18th Street between G and H in Arcata.

Re: Gyno?
Sun, April 6, 2008 - 2:23 PMYes, I love the women at the NC clinic. Whatever you do, don't go to the HSU health center. They don't autoclave their speculums, and that's one of the least of their dirty habits.

Re: Gyno?
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 3:43 PMthese are all good suggestions for a mere annual, or simple everyday complication...
however, for endometriosis, I would recommend seeing a ob-gyn that you are extremely comfortable with, rather than going to a clinic. Clinics aren't for treating ongoing ailments, imho. I've had endometriosis, and it was extremely painful. I went to several doctors (including the clinics who were not fit to address my continuing situation due to case overload)...and finally settled with Dr. Weiderman in Eureka. He was fabulous. I went through several different treatments (including laproscopic surgery), until we were finally able to get my condition under control. He is extremely knowledgeble and can definately help you. I know you were probably looking for a woman (as was I, however, I went to each and every ob-gyn in the area and none of them could help me, nor seemed to care)...but, Dr. Weiderman, is very experienced and symathetic, I was quite comfortable with him...not to mention he was the only doctor who actually helped me...good luck...I know it's a tough affliction, but you will get through it with the right treatment -

Re: Gyno?
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 11:01 PMmy suggestion - NorthCoast Womens Health in Eureka..
amazing and truly knowledgable group of women MDs...
nothing against NorthCountry.. I had been there for years... great group, for sure...
however ----- there were ongoing concerns I had and they never dealt with any of them.. nor willing further look into my options.
seems pretty hard to discuss the big picture, and symptoms when you're lucky to get a half hour visit ?
NCWH - I was able to go in and talk with my doctor until I felt my questions had been covered, even though we went on for long over an hour of discussion... good stuff... and after all this is your health, right?
They do not take Medical that I am aware of... however they are awesome about figuring out payment plans and options...
Its worth a call....
