Posted this in 'listings', but figured it couldn't hurt to post here as well. Let me know if you think so. :)

I am looking for work here in Arcata and figured to put the word out to my fellow Tribbles. :)

Work/Life experience
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am artistically inclined: graduated Art Scholar of my high school ('85), couple quarters in Art Institute of Seattle ('85-'86), but generally 'self taught' exploring art styles and mediums. I Worked for Meng associates architectual firm in Seattle ('87) as an office/architectual assistant: copying and assembling project books; applying press lettering and hand lettering to books and plans; organizing and filing papers, plans and projects; running errands/delivering plans; filled in at front desk on phones and greeting clients; taking messages; doing call backs; typing and filing papers.
I am starting to learn art programs, self teaching on Adobe Illustrator and on Linux's Gimp. May have Photoshop 7 soon! I am excited about this, but need to find a used Wacom or digital artpad I can utilize. I enjoy designing graphics for lettering/logos and draw in styles from cartoon to life drawing. Various projects I have done: graphics for a friend's tattoo, simple story board displays for a friend's screenplay submission, cover art for a friend's local (Ashland) fantasy magazine and art for a friend's Sci-Fi role playing game.
Worked many years in the service industry. Too many restaurants to list, but only one short stint at a 'fast food' restaurant: Dairy Queen('cured' me of ever doing that again), the rest ranged from a family owned restaurant serving traditional Jewish meals and other healthy selections to a fine dining French restaurant.
Various positions: opening prep/setup, line/prep chef, dishwasher, waitstaff, cashier, janitorial, closing.
Play theatres:
Oregon Cabaret Theatre - box office, wait/barback, manager's assistant (seasonally '88-'92)
AHA! Theater - sound/lighting tech, stage manager/poster designer ('94)
Oregon Shakespeare Festival - set shifting: set up and breaking down of sets between shows. ('90&'93)
Movie theaters:
Varsity Theater of Ashland - snackbar/cashier (periodically '88-'92)
Deli/Foodstores:
Ralph's Deli in Seattle - deli prep/server/cashier ('89)
The Good Earth natural foodstore in Fairfax, CA - Cashier - Cashiering/stocking/cleaning ('94)
I have worked as an assistant preschool teacher in Ashland, Oregon:
Kid's House preschool('97-'98)
the YMCA('98-'99)
Headstart('99-2000) preschools. (bus driver and teacher's assistant)
Various duties: daily planning and setting up of activities, snack/meal preparation, routine daily and monthly cleaning projects, logging notable child behavior for consideration, communicating with parents and attending to the overall physical/mental/emotional well being of the children.
I have references for housesitting(+cleaning)/petsitting (aprox. 3-4 yrs experience '01-'06).
Various duties: feeding/walking/playing with animals, taking to vets and administering of medicines/care if needed, plant/garden care, collecting of mail, and doing a thorough cleaning job before clients return, leaving it, usually, more clean than when started.
Have moderate skills with computers, can 'get around' and operate(or easily figure out) most programs(not a 'geek', but recently acquired digital 'books' for many programs and a lot of computer info) and extensive internet and web browser experience. I can offer instruction in these, plus organization and navigation on operating systems.
Have landscaping/carpentry assistance experience: I assisted my mother that owned and operated a landscaping business when I was a teenager and have worked in this field off and on of over the years. I have done many big landscaping projects, just none on my own. I can't say I have the learned knowledge of plants, but I feel an affinity for the work, can follow directions, and if the projects not too big can probably figure it out.
Have assisted friends and family with their carpentry businesses and projects. Basically, I can measure, saw, hammer and lift, just not someone that has enough knowledge to do projects on my own. I am not a professional, so I don't have any major tools, just regular household ones: small hammers, screwdrivers, saw, shovel, pitchfork, hand clippers, gloves, etc.
I have been a part and full time live-in caregiver for friends. Part time was paid through the state of Oregon, full time was purely volunteer with a small stipend for 3-4 months during the summer of '06. Both people for whom I work have moved away, one back to Israel and the other to a caregiving home in Iowa. I may be able to get in touch with the second friend for a reference.
Various duties: meal prep; cleaning (washing of bedding and clothes, bathrooms/kitchens/household, etc.); care of animals; watering plants/garden; going on errands alone and together (food shopping, picking up medications, etc.); taking to appointments (doctors, YMCA, etc.); assisting with entering/exiting of vehicles, wheelchair operation, bathing; organizing cupboards and home; taking out trash and recycling and odd jobs.
Have volunteered with free meal kitchens and food pantries that feed the community and are operating by donation/volunteer work only: Food Not Bombs, Food For People, a variety of other 'free meal' programs in the Ashland area.
Various duties: collecting, sorting and prepping/cooking food, serving food, organizing and storing food in pantries, cleaning of facilities (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing/storing dishes, etc.)
No vehicle or driver's license.
Pay/worktrade negotionable.
