Sprint coverage sucks!!

Anyone else living/working in Arcata with a Sprint cell phone having trouble with coverage? About a week ago, my phone stopped being able to make or receive calls at my office which is a block off the plaza. I have to go about 5 blocks away for it to work. My daughter's phone is having similar problems but in slightly different places.

The only truly helpful people I spoke with were the tech help people. I worked with them for a week while they tried reprogramming my phone and checking the towers but nothing worked. Sprint's regular customer service is HORRIBLE!! They are obviously trained to remain calm and steadfast in the face of a really frustrated customer. They want $400 to terminate my contract which doesn't expire until 2009!!! Evil corporation!! The person I spoke with said he had the power to terminate a contract without charging the cancellation fee but he wouldn't do it for me and wouldn't tell me what criteria he uses to make that determination. I'm not sure what can be worse than paying for a service that used to work, is crucial to my business and is not longer functioning.

If you are in the market for cell service...DON'T CHOOSE SPRINT!!

Well I can tell you that my edge service went around the same time. I called about that and was told that the towers were still out of wack from that last bout of storms. A customer service rep won't be able to fix that and may not be aware of our local situation. I was told to sit tight, it's being worked on. I would go talk to the guys in the eureka branch to get the update on that.
As far as getting dumped by sprint, I read an article in the news about that new policy. Apparently if you call and complain repeatedly they will dump you for being an unsatisfiable customer or something like that. If that's what you want, just keep calling and annoy them as much as possible.

      Hey Nicole/All:

I find that Pre-paid plans avoid a lot of these issues w/cost and contract dismissal. We have Tracfone, my daughter has Verizon now and had T-Mobile, we'd put Tracfone over the other pre-paid plans that we've encountered as well.

Just in case anyone's thinking of switching, I've always had great help w/Tracfone's customer service staff as well, once when my minutes didn't go on and I understandably quite upset, they knew exactly what to do. As a past Hotline Analyst for PC Software and such, I can totally understand how agents get overwhelmed especially if they have a # of callers calling in. Still, professionalism is the top word in the game and if you don't get that then that alone should be valid reason for you to dismiss your contract without cost.

Anyway, I hope all of you have your service back soon. I haven't attempted to use our cell phone in the last week so I'm not sure if we're effected or not but I'll be trying to make a call later and can post my experiences afterward.

      Get Talkin - Hugs,
      Sharla
