Does anyone know him? I've seen him several times in town and he creeps me out because he only talks to my toddler. I don't like the way he looks at her.

Re: Man playing violin in the forest
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 2:42 PMI've seen him a few times, never had a problem. I would rather people didn't make noise in the forest, I usually go to there to enjoy some nature and get away from human noise, there are far cooler sounds to listen to when in the trees! -

Re: Man playing violin in the forest
Sat, March 29, 2008 - 1:32 PMI just have wondered if anyone knows him. I've never exactly had a problem with him, but we were walking in the forest a couple months ago and ran into him, and he just kept talking to my toddler, and then he came around and cut us off so he could meet up with us again. And I've run into him a few times since. Maybe he's just kind of off. I don't know. Or maybe he's just lonely, but on an instinct level he really bothers me. I really get sex offender vibe. He never has said a word to me or my husband, but he always stares at and talks to my daughter. Anyway.... A heads up for parents, or if someone knows him and can tell me I'm totally off....

Re: Man playing violin in the forest
Fri, April 4, 2008 - 4:56 PMah yes...in fact i was there the other day and he only talked with my children...then the womyn behind us, smae thing only to her toddler boys. you can go to the sex offender website and maybe that would have some info.....i went there once a coupla years back. 16 registered in arcata at that time. there were 36 in mckinleyville and over 130 in eureka. crazy. actually i just posted a similar post about another ify guy and people went wild and wanted me to delete the post. trippy. anyhoo, i say go with yer gut all ways and things will be fine.
p.s. i like to go tho the forest for quite as well. ;) -

Re: Man playing violin in the forest
Fri, April 4, 2008 - 11:11 PMIt's so funny, I was reading these posts, and although I'd seen the guy playing in the forest before, I never had a distinctive face for him.
Anyways, I was walking in the park yesterday, and there was the guy playing the violin (poorly and screechingly). I've totally seen him around town, and talked to him before. I've never gotten the sex offender vibe (not that you shouldn't check the websites, just in case). He has actually talked to me on several occasions, and one time even asked me to go into a pizza place for him or something to get his order because "he couldn't go in there". I honestly get waaaaaay more of the schizophrenic vibe from him. Sometimes he says hi when I see him, like yesterday in the forest, and other times he's off in his own spacy world seeming completely oblivious to what's going on around him. I wouldn't ever leave a child in his care, but if you're just walking by, I think he's pretty harmless.

Re: Man playing violin in the forest
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 3:24 PMThe guy is nuts!
Stay far far away...
He's been banned from many a small business in arcata...he's bad news...
He comes off as friendly and non-threatening, then <SNAP> he goes ballistic on some customer service worker with crazy conspiracy theories. He can also get extremely violent. He's banned from Mokka (where I've worked for the past 8 yrs.). We actually needed police assistance to deal with his crazy ass. Whenever he sees my co-worker in town, he still tries to start a confrontation with him and screams and yells at him in a threatening manner.
dude is seriously messed up....and no, I'm not going to have sympathy for him...
I'm sick of being harassed an abused by wookies and crazies just because I work in the service industry...enough! -

Re: Man playing violin in the forest
Thu, April 17, 2008 - 5:58 PMawww... i have some friends that call that guy Satan after an incident they had with him when they were innocently tripping out in Redwood park. His violin is nice to hear from afar on dates in the redwoods, but face to face (espically intoxicated) this guy definatly has the creeper peeper vibe. -

Re: Man playing violin in the forest
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 8:38 PMHmm...
I think I've met this David too. I work at the Clothing Dock and he drops in sometimes to look, and gives heavy conversation. He's really intelligent, and I've actually learned a few things I didn't know about nutrition from him. But when he talks...wow, he unloads. I feel dominated by it, and so every time he comes in I respond with this heavy emotional repulsion, which I'd like to surmount, because he seems interesting. And if this same person plays violin in the forest: it's exquisite, I head it once and was enthralled. I didn't feel he was creepy, definitely negative at times, definitely odd: I assume he talks so much because he's not good at communicating, and therefore not very well acquainted with 'the social order' of things. But there's a lot of people like that here in Arcata, right? I think I'm here 'cause I'm one of them. But I trust the mamas to be wary: smart of them...

Re: Man playing violin in the forest
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 10:07 PMHe hitchhikes pretty often, and I always pick him up. He is an interesting dude, and I love talking to him about music, he knows a lot about it. I always thought it was sax case he carried, but now I know its a violin cool. He is a pretty nice guy, but I could see him going crazy...but I personally trust him.
