JUNE 6, 2009
For 2 hot hot hot workshops at Redwood Raks
WORKSHOP 1 ~
The Art of Making it Weird (slow, lovely & strange)
10:00am-12:00pm
We are going to ride the edge between exquisite and strange in this slow movement workshop. All that ooey gooey stuff that is so fun and delicious to watch and do will be focused on, using elements from the head down through to the fingertips. We will be focusing on super slow isolations, extreme undulations, and upper body technique. Hand work, elbow work, wrist work, posture, oblique strengthening (to get that horozontal pull that makes mayas and hip slides so exquiste and strange) , belly rolls with emphasis on stomach musculature. And of course the elusive flutter!
WORKSHOP 2 ~
Fast and Furious Drills
1:00pm-3:00pm
This Workshop will use specific pilates and yoga based exercises to strengthen the core muscles neccesary for backbends, belly rolls, and tight hip work. Hip, head, shoulder and chest isolations will be drilled, as well as working on smoothing transitions from move to move. We will go over lots of pop-lock technique, as well as fluidity of movement, stressing on posture and upper body awareness.
This class is for all levels!
